Work groups are several or more members, members-elect or regular attendees who come together, based on a common interest, to accomplish an objective. A work group may last a few weeks, months or all year and may be renewed again the following year with the same members or new members.

During the yearly direction setting retreat work groups can be either re-chartered or disbanded.  New work groups can be formed at any time, but usually are formed during the yearly retreat.

Chartered Work Groups – 2008-2009

Adult Mission Trips
Purpose: To provide opportunities for adults to participate in mission trips. Trip could be a 1 day mission, a weekend mission, or longer.

Coffee House Movie Night
Purpose: To continue a once-a-month coffee house with various types of entertainment and sponsor a movie night once a month outside of church

Community Liaison
Purpose: To be a contact between Crossroads Church and our local neighborhoods and to be a good friend and neighbor.

CrossTalk
Purpose: The CrossTalk Work Group provides and supports various methods of communication to Crossroads Church so that each person in the congregation can access the news and needs of the body. Our current initiative is to enhance and redesign our public website to appeal to Internet searchers looking for a church in Kansas City by including thought-provoking text and other new features.

Facility Care
Purpose: To be responsible for the maintenance and accessibility of the grounds and building of any property that Crossroads Church owns, to keep it functional, safe, inviting and welcoming thereby encouraging new people to join the journey with us. Continue capital improvements to the building utilizing funds from the capital campaign.

Festival Season Planners
Purpose: To serve the congregation and community, and support the worship planners by planning and organizing special events – especially Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter; coordinate with worship planners, marketing group, and others as needed

Landscaping/ Gardening
Purpose: Maintain and improve the landscaping of Crossroads property

Marketing Planners
Purpose: To develop and execute a marketing strategy to enable Crossroads Church to seek, invite, and welcome people to journey with us at Crossroads.

More 2 (Metro Organization for Racial and Economic Equity)
Purpose: To guide Crossroads Church’s involvement in the metro ministry of More2. To provide education and involvement for our fellowship.

Musical Theater
Purpose: To support theater as a ministry for Crossroads Church for the purposes of outreach, developing gifts and talents, and cultivating community

Outside Speaker Series
Purpose: To bring in outside speakers 4 times a year. To bring outside people from surrounding community to the church.

Worship/ Event Coordinators
Purpose: To support in organizing volunteers to assist worship and special worship events.

Worship Planners
Purpose: To plan, coordinate, facilitate, and support activities that encourage spirit-filled corporate worship which is passionate, creative, participatory, involving of the whole person, and inviting to everyone who enters, and which leads to individual and congregational growth in the inward and outward spiritual journeys.

The church By Laws provide for four Standing Committees that serve to minimize the need for congregational involvement in the day-to-day operation of the church and assure the various components of the church are moving in the direction set by the members –
