We are people on a journey asking hard questions about life and faith and working to find answers that are right for us.

Beginning a new year, I am reminded of how powerful the theme of journey can be in the life of faith. Churches can be places where people can explore the understanding of their faith in an atmosphere of trust and safety. Faith is a shared journey on which people ask hard questions in love, share their differing understandings, and seek to integrate actions with beliefs. Being on journey means being honest in the searching, in the questioning, and in application of faith to life. When this happens, the result is an integration of one's whole-life beliefs.
Where are we going? We are on a journey to live fully, love passionately and grow spiritually. We invite honest questioning, but not for its own sake. Good questions lead to meaningful answers.
Some of the questions we ask and try to answer in a meaningful way are these:
- How do our experiences help to shape our theology?
- What do we mean by a life of abundance?
- What do we mean by a spiritual journey?
- How can prayer benefit both the person praying and those prayed for?
- What is God’s call for the Christian Church today?
- How should we as Christians pursue peace and justice?
- How should we respond to suffering in the world?
- How can we integrate our outward and inward journeys of faith?
- How can we interpret the Bible in ways that are relevant to the realities of today’s world?
- What can we believe and trust about Jesus?
- What views of heaven are most meaningful in today’s world?
- How can we accept both scientific and spiritual views of life?
- How can we be Christians and still keep an open mind about what to trust and believe?
